Projector screens: how to select one

for your home or business

Projector screens are used with projectors to improve the quality of the projected image. They can be used for both home entertainment and for business presentations and events.

Here, we will discuss the different types of screens, some of their benefits, and how to choose one that is right for you.

What are projector screens? If you've come this far, you know that the factors involved in selecting a projector screen vary depending on the intended use of the screen. Your response may be a simple, “I'm just looking for a screen that I can use with any projector, and I don't care how big it is.” If so, you’re in luck -- for most applications, there aren't that many options. Here’s some things you will want to consider when selecting a projector screen.

Where will you use it?

Projector screens are designed for different environments. Some are more ideal for home use, while others are best for businesses and classrooms. Some have features that make them work well in more settings than others. Think about where you will most likely be using your screen and choose the best one for the job.

What size of screen will you need? Projector screens - considerations

Choosing the right projector screen is an important part of your home cinema project. There are a number of considerations to take into account when choosing an ideal projector screen. Here is a list of some of the most important considerations:

1. Aspect Ratio - To find out what aspect ratio your projector has, check the user manual that came with it. The aspect ratio is normally listed on the back of the projector in cm or inches.

For example, a 16:9 projector has an aspect ratio of 16:9.

2. Viewing Distance - The optimal viewing distance is normally between 1.3 to 2.5 times the distance from the projector to the projector screen. An average human eye can focus on objects at around 1-2 meters. This means that for an optimal viewing experience, the distance between you and the screen should be approximately 1.3-2.5 meters/4-8 feet.

3. Image Size - The screen’s image size should be at least the same size as the input resolution of your projector. If the screen’s image size is smaller compared to the input resolution, the image will be stretched and the quality of the image will be poor.

4. Projector Model - Almost all projectors can display an image on a 100-inch screen.

However, the brightness (or luminosity) of projectors (measured in ANSI lumens) varies widely. In order to get a bright image on a 100-inch screen, you will need a projector with 4,000 ANSI lumens or more.

5. Pixel Per Inch (PPI) - Pixel per inch refers to the resolution of a screen. The higher the PPI, the better the screen will display the image.
