how to get the most out of my gpu

Our company, Data Machines Corp. (DMC), is committed to continuously contributing to the open source community and so we would like to share some ways you can diagnose and fix issues associated with Nvidia graphics processing units (GPUs).

In addition to providing hardware for ML model training with Nvidia GPUs, DMC furnishes and assembles computing hardware for numerous organizations and academic institutions.

With this blog post, we will share how we have improved GPU performance using our expertise. GPUs are an important component of machine learning.

We have a containerized toolkit for ML and Computer Vision (CV) libraries that includes NVIDA-GPUs for machine learning. Check out our blogpost for more information.

Enable Re-Sizeable BAR

It's important to go into your BIOS settings as soon as the graphics card has been installed. Turn your computer on and press the DEL key until you are in the BIOS setup.

You can enable Re-Size BAR support by going to the advanced settings for PCIe sub-system settings. Save the setting and exit the browser to restart the computer.

By installing a resizeable BAR, you can enhance communication between your GPU and CPU, thereby enhancing your gaming performance.

In addition, it is important to note that Re-Sizeable BAR is not available to everyone. Make sure you have the right equipment before you begin. AMD 400 and 500 CPUs as well as 10th and 11th generation Intel CPUs are supported. However, you must make sure your motherboard BIOS and GPU BIOS are all up to date. The details on that are available here.

Remove old graphics drivers with DDU

You should also remove any old graphics drivers that may negatively impact performance before installing a new graphics card. Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a free software you can use to do this.

It will ensure there are no conflicts and everything runs smoothly when you download and run this software before installing any new Nvidia drivers.

Install the latest drivers and GeForce Experience

Go here and choose the graphics card you're using, then choose your GPU from the drop-down menus. Download the driver and run it. Choose custom installation and check "perform clean installation" - this will help you perform the best performance when a new graphics driver is released.

Additionally, install GeForce Experience, which lets you use Nvidia Shadowplay to capture footage. Launch that app and log in to your Nvidia account. You'll find a performance tab when you click ALT+Z. This is a great tool for capturing footage. Once you've clicked the settings cog, you can enable experimental features. You can then let the application automatically optimize your GPU.
